Refund Policy

Last updated: 1 June 2026

1. Your Rights Under the Australian Consumer Law

National VIN Check (ABN 85 873 692 381) is an Australian business and our services are subject to the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).

Under the ACL, consumers are entitled to certain guarantees that cannot be excluded. Our services come with guarantees that they will be provided with due care and skill, fit for their purpose, and delivered within a reasonable time. Nothing in this policy limits or excludes those statutory rights.

2. When You Are Entitled to a Remedy

You are entitled to a full refund or re-delivery of your report in the following circumstances:

  • Non-delivery: Your report was not delivered to the email address you provided within 30 minutes of payment confirmation, and the issue was not caused by an incorrect email address entered by you.
  • Wrong vehicle: The report generated relates to a different vehicle than the registration plate or VIN you entered, due to a system error on our part.
  • Major failure of the service: The report delivered is substantially different from what was advertised for the tier you purchased — for example, a Gold report delivered without valuation data due to a system failure, not due to the vehicle type or data availability.
  • Duplicate charge: You were charged more than once for the same report due to a payment processing error.

To claim a remedy under any of the above circumstances, please contact us within 48 hours of purchase at [email protected] with your order ID and a brief description of the issue.

3. Change of Mind

Because vehicle history reports are delivered instantly upon payment and contain data retrieved in real time from live government registers, we do not offer refunds for change of mind once a report has been generated and delivered.

This is consistent with the ACL, which does not require refunds for change of mind. If you are unsure which report tier suits your needs, please review our report tiers page before purchasing.

4. Data Limitations

Our reports reflect the state of official Australian government registers — including PPSR, NEVDIS, and the Written-Off Vehicle Register — at the time of query. We are not liable for information that is absent from those registers due to delays in reporting by third parties (such as financiers, insurers, or state road authorities).

A report that returns a "clear" result on any check means no record was found in the underlying register at the time of query — it is not a guarantee that the vehicle has no history. This is clearly stated in our Terms of Service.

5. Re-Delivery of Reports

If you purchased a report but did not receive it by email, you can retrieve any previously purchased report at any time using your email address and order ID via our Verify Report page. Reports remain accessible for a minimum of 12 months from the date of purchase.

6. Refund Processing

Approved refunds are processed to the original payment method via Stripe within 5–10 business days. You will receive a confirmation email once the refund has been initiated. Processing times thereafter are subject to your card issuer.
